Kathryn Joosten, proved an inspiration to all those nervously considering a midlife change of career when, in her early forties, she gave up her job as a psychiatric nurse to follow her dream of becoming an actress. By the end of her life she was an award-winning performer known to millions of viewers of the television series The West Wing and Desperate Housewives.
