Company Results

Carpetright have reported a 4.7% increase in group sales for the 13 weeks to 24 January 2015. Total UK sales increased by 6.6% while UK like-for-like sales increased by 7.5% for the same period.
Jimmy Choo have reported a 6.2% increase in sales to £299.1m for the year to 31 December 2014. Retail net sales increased by 8.7% while like-for-like sales increased by 5.7% for the same period. (Source: Verdict)

John Lewis have reported a 3.0% increase in sales for the week to 24 January 2015. Fashion and Home sales increased by 10% and 4.4% respectively while Electricals & Home Technology sales declined by 2.3%. Sales at johnlewis.com increased by 15.9%.
Karen Millen have reported a 1.2% decrease in sales to £256m for the year to February 2014. Pre-tax loss was reported at £6.1m for the same period. (Source: Retail Week)
Waitrose have reported a 2.5% increase in sales (including petrol) for the week to 24 January 2015.

Lifestyles were strong across the board with only the sale of outdoors and sporting goods struggling slightly. Small ticket items generally performed the best.

Fashion disappointed but overall proved a very mixed market with 50% of contributors actually in positive territory. The more specialist retails out performed mainstream fashion retailers.

Homewares was the strongest performing category though in truth results were very mixed. Department stores performed well, as did big ticket furniture but home improvement products were weak.

Non-store sales were roughly in line with expectations at a total level. Fashion however disappointed slightly with growth of just 15.6% and lifestyles were slightly lower than expectations with growth of 23.0%. Homewares were very strong this week up 41.2%.

Clothing, Footwear & Accessories
