Waitrose have reported a 1.3% increase in sales (including petrol) for the week to 31 January 2015.

Lifestyles dipped uncharacteristically this week with the poor performance particularly pronounced in sports goods and small ticket gifting. Department stores however performed well across the board.

Fashion sales were extremely mixed with many retailers actually demonstrating growth. The launch of new season lines did help kick start like-for-likes for some contributors.

Homewares was again strong with all but one contributor posting strong results.

Non-store performed broadly inline with our expectations though fashion grew at a far slower rate than the other sectors – up just 10.9%. Lifestyles and homewares were up 23.9% and 48.7% respectively.
