Company Results

Greggs have reported a 5.5% increase in sales to £804m for the 53 weeks to 03 January 2015. Own shop like-for-like sales increased by 4.5% while pre-tax profit excluding exceptional items was reported at £58.3m for the same period.
Lookers have reported a 23% increase in revenue to £3.04bn for the year to 31 December 2014. Pre-tax profit increased by 34.8% to £59.2m for the same period.
McColl’s Retail Group have reported a 6.1% increase in total sales to £922.4m for the 53 weeks to 30 November 2014. Like-for-like sales increased by 0.7% while profit before tax was reported at £12.6m for the same period.
Thorntons have reported an 8.2% decrease in total sales to £128.2m for the 28 weeks to 10 January 2015. Retail sales decreased by 5.2% to £65.5m while retail like-for-like sales increased by 2.2% for the same period. Profit before tax & exceptional items was reported at £6.5m.

Travis Perkins have reported an 8.4% increase in revenue to £5.6bn for the year to 31 December 2014. Like-for-like revenue increased by 7.3% while adjusted profit before tax increased by 12.8% to £362.3m for the same period. The sales for the consumer division increased by 8.8% to £1.3bn.

Clothing, Footwear & Accessories

Farfetch have raised $86m, valuing them at $1bn. The retailer plans to use the funds for their international expansion and fuel their omni-channel growth plans and customer propositions. (Source: Retail Bulletin)

According to a survey conducted by Intelligent Reach, in the two weeks to 14th February 2015, year-on-year clicks on products driving traffic to retailers’ websites increased by 54%, leading to a 35% increase in their revenue. Of the 29 retailers surveyed, clicks for women’s dresses rose 383% for shopping search, with revenue rising significantly by 482% year-on-year. Of all the Valentine’s Day related categories across Google Shopping, handbags & luggage experienced the largest increase in purchases, rising 136% year-on-year. A significant increase in traffic was experienced by jewellery & watches, with clicks rising by over 200% year-on-year.
